Mr. Khalid Alharfash, NAUSS Vice-President for 10
External Relations, elaborated that organizing the
seminar is part of NAUSS›s efforts in environmental presented by experts

field and is attentive to the severe impacts of climate 9
change on health and life aspects, including food,
housing, safety, and work. NAUSS also acknowledges from organizations
the threats faced by island nations and developing
countries due to rising sea levels and prolonged
droughts, which could expose communities to the
risk of future famines.
Furthermore, Mr. Alharfash emphasized the
importance of strengthening international
cooperation in environmental security to effectively
tackle the challenges posed by climate change. This
collaborative approach aims to find solutions that enhance
the quality of life and protect the environment, aligning with
global agreements and initiatives such as the Sustainable
Development Goals, the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change, and the Paris Agreement.
These frameworks encompass measures focused on emission
reduction, climate adaptation, and the provision of necessary
financial support.
Dr. Adel Abdullah Samedah, representative of ISESCO,
emphasized that climate change poses threats to public
safety, the economy, and national security. This concern
prompted ISESCO organization to develop a capacity-building
and disaster risk management pilot program in member
states from 2018 to 2022. The program aimed to enhance
competencies and was implemented across ISESCO›s three
geographic regions. ISESCO also adopted a new 3-year work
program to mitigate the impact of natural disasters, enhance
member states› resilience, and protect the environment
and heritage. This involves sharing knowledge, resources,
and experiences to achieve positive change in the Islamic
world. Dr. Samedah called for continued strategic partnership
between NAUSS and ISESCO in areas of mutual interest.
The 3-day seminar delved into strategies for climate change
preparedness and readiness. It examined government policies
and procedures, showcased the significance of recent scientific
